Toilet training is a developmental milestone often reached between 24 and 48 months. Mastery can take time and requires brain maturity, muscle development and a willingness to learn. As with all new skills some children will learn quickly whilst others will resist, refuse, show no interest or have associated medical history such as constipation.
My name is Danielle Strapp and I am passionate about working with children and families to gain toileting success. With knowledge, strategies and support; anxiety for parent and child will decrease and toilet mastery is achievable.
Hensman Street Elementary would like to thank Lotterywest for a grant for a new kitchen install. With this grant we were able to upgrade our kitchen into a space that can be used and accessed by all families and staff. Providing us with a large oven allows for the childrens cooking experiences to be able to be completed in a timely manner. We look forward to many years of cooking in our new kitchen.
Little Scientists House
The Little Scientists initiative is a not-for-profit organisation aiming to engage children in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) areas from an early age (3 to 6 years of age). As Little Scientists believe that children should have access to scientific exploration on a daily basis, the organisation offers a long term workshop program for teachers and educators to help integrate inquiry-based science into their work. The full day workshops focus on providing tools and methods for early childhood professionals to let the child’s question determine what will happen/when it will happen/how it happens. One of the most important steps for educators and teachers to be able to focus on the child’s interests, is to develop enthusiasm for hands on exploration and to become (even more) curious about the world themselves. For this reason, please bring your ‘explorer hat’ when attending Little Scientists workshops! Visit www.littlescientists.org.au for more information.
