Our History

Hensman Street Elementary
Hensman Street Elementary building history

Founded in 1977, in the first permanent Child Health Centre in South Perth, Hensman Street Pre-School was one of the first established, 3 year old, independent schools.  Lefki Kailis, the driving force behind the setting up of Hensman Street Pre-School, wanted to move the teacher run playgroup from her backyard into a more formalised setting.

In 2016, the Board changed its thinking and expanded to include a Kindy program. In 2019 the Pre-Primary program was implemented, which now extends through to year 3.  With the support of the City of South Perth, the Department of Education and local families we will be looking to expand further over the coming years.
